Acceptance of these terms

By creating a Mive account or using the service, you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, please don't use Mive.

What Mive is

Mive is software and a managed service that let your own devices reach the files on your own PC over a private, encrypted network. We do not host your files — they stay on your machine. Mive's role is to help your devices find each other and to sign you in.

Your account

You need an account to use Mive. Keep your sign-in details secret, and let us know if you think someone else has access. You're responsible for activity on your account. Please give accurate information, and use Mive only if you're at least 15 years old.

Your content

Your files are yours. We claim no rights over them and we don't access them. You are solely responsible for the files you store on your PC through Mive and for anything you share — including content you make available through share links. Don't share content you don't have the right to share.

Opening a share link

Some files and folders can be opened through a share link without an account. If you open such a link, you agree to these terms — in particular the acceptable-use rules and the disclaimers below — for that use. Content reached through a share link comes from another user's own computer: Mive does not host it, does not review or control it, and provides access to it "as is".

Our software and rights

Mive is proprietary software — it is not open source. We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to install and use the Mive apps and service for their intended purpose. You may not copy, redistribute, sell, rent, sublicense, modify, decompile, or reverse-engineer the software, except to the extent mandatory law allows (for example the interoperability exception under article L122-6-1 of the French Intellectual Property Code). The Mive name, logo, and related intellectual property remain ours.

Acceptable use

Don't use Mive to break the law, to infringe anyone's rights, or to store or share unlawful content. Don't abuse or attack the infrastructure, don't try to circumvent its security, and don't resell the service. We may suspend access that puts the service or other people at risk.

Reporting abuse

The quickest route is in the app: "Report" on a share you received, or on a public link's page — the latter needs no account. You can also block a person, which removes their shares and stops them sending you more.

If you would rather write to us, or you don't have the app: [email protected] with the link and a short description. We review reports in good faith and may disable the affected link or suspend the account. Because files stay on the user's own computer, only that user can delete a file at the source; what we can do is disable the Mive access path to it.

Availability and "as is"

Mive is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind and without a guaranteed service level. There may be downtime, and features may change. Mive is free, and we intend to keep it that way. We may modify, suspend, or discontinue any part of the service.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Mive is not liable for indirect or consequential damages, or for any loss of data. Your files live on your own machine — please keep your own backups. We take security seriously, and Mive is carefully designed and architected to be very secure. Even so, in the unlikely event that a security vulnerability, a breach or unauthorised access to the service, or another person's misuse of Mive causes loss or harm, we are not liable for it, to the fullest extent the law allows. Nothing in these terms limits the mandatory protections you have under French consumer law.

Termination

You can delete your account at any time from your account page, which permanently removes your account and enrolled computers. Ending your account never affects the files on your own computer — they stay on your disk. We may suspend or end your access if you breach these terms (with reasonable notice where we can give it); when your account ends, your right to use the service ends with it.

Changes to the service and these terms

We may update the service and these terms over time. If you keep using Mive after a change, that means you accept the updated terms. We'll keep the "last updated" date above current.

General

If any part of these terms is held unenforceable, the rest stays in effect. You may not transfer your account or these terms to anyone else; we may transfer them in connection with a reorganisation or a transfer of the service, without reducing your rights.

Governing law and disputes

These terms are governed by French law. Mive is a free, non-commercial personal project; to the extent French consumer law applies to it, you keep every mandatory right it gives you,.
